These bespoke hatchets are based on old Scandinavian examples used by boat builder and wood workers. They feature laminated construction i.e. the body of the tool is made from mild (architectural) steel and the edge is made from 1095 high carbon steel. They can be made single bevel (chisel edged) right or left-handed (please specify) or center laminated (knife-edged). The single bevel blades are made with a subtle concavity so that the corners won't dig in during heavy hewing giving the work a neater finish. they can be further customized with decorative stamp work (see examples).

Shown here are a left and right-handed example. The left-handed axe features an ebonized handle and a decorative stamped band at the transition to the eye. the right-handed axe has a natural finish hickory handle and Scandinavian style stamp work.
