This axe is authentic to surviving Migration Era examples. Despite its large size, it is quite light and nimble. The head weighs just over a pound and the 36" white ash handle gives the wielder plenty of reach. Even the construction of the axe head is typical of originals- the eye was formed by the "asymmetric wrap and weld" method and the high-carbon steel edge is forge-welded into the bit. The axe is hardened, tempered and fully functional. This would be a great one to customize yourself with a leather wrap, runic inscription or some knotwork carved into the handle. To Valhalla!
