Bleeding Heart Tomahawk Made To Order

Bleeding Heart Tomahawk Made To Order

from $378.75

This tomahawk is representative of a style that became popular in the South and West in the late 18th and early 19th centuries. The bleeding heart motif is of uncertain origin but it was often seen on colonial objects. This particular example was forged with the ‘wrapped eye’ technique where by the steel is folded around a mandrel and forge-welded to itself. Unlike many originals of this type this example is steeled (I.e. it has a high carbon steel bit capable of taking and holding a sharp edge). It also has some delicate punch and file decoration on the blade and poll.

It has a 3”long edge, 6&1/4” head from edge to poll and a 19” handle.

This will be made to order and may vary slightly from the photo.

NOTE: This item is made to order and may take up to 6-8 weeks to ship. These items are handmade and will have individual variation. Made to order.
