Hand Forged Knives > Camp

I loosely based this knife on one I saw in a Peter Bruegel Elder painting called "Peasant Wedding". The blade of this knife was forged from a piece of leaf spring (5160).The handle is elk antler and the guard and pommel are heat blued mild steel. The unusual knuckle bow was probably for parrying long blades during combat, but would also be suitable for keeping one's knuckles safe while chopping brush. The blade and hardware were totally hand filed and finished without the use of power tools. This would be a very serviceable camp and trail knife.
